چکیده
This paper aims to provide a better understanding of the transition towards new paradigm wildfire risk management in Victoria that incorporates Aboriginal fire knowledge. We show suitability cultural burning transformed landscapes, and challenges associated with its reintroduction for land bushfire reduction after traumatic disruption invasion colonization. Methods Environmental History Regional Geography were combined Traditional Ecological Knowledge unravel connections between past, present future practices. Our study area consists Dja Wurrung Bangarang/Yorta Yorta Country north-central Victoria. The results (i) ongoing socio-political process building renewed integrated approach including burning, (ii) opportunities culture restoring landscape resilience wildfires. conclude both need change together adapt environmental context collaborate mutual common benefit.

Fire Effects on Historical Wildfire Refugia in Contemporary Wildfires
Wildfire refugia are forest patches that are minimally-impacted by fire and provide critical habitats for fire-sensitive species and seed sources for post-fire forest regeneration. Wildfire refugia are relatively understudied, particularly concerning the impacts of subsequent fires on existing refugia. We opportunistically re-visited 122 sites classified in 1994 for a prior fire refugia study, ...
متن کاملCatching Fire? Social Interactions, Beliefs, and Wildfire Risk Mitigation Behaviors
Social interactions are widely recognized as a potential influence on risk-related behaviors. We present a mediation model in which social interactions (classified as formal= informal and generic=fire-specific) are associated with beliefs about wildfire risk and mitigation options, which in turn shape wildfire mitigation behaviors. We test this model using survey data from fire-prone areas of Co...
متن کاملPost-wildfire logging hinders regeneration and increases fire risk.
We present data from a study of early conifer regeneration and fuel loads after the 2002 Biscuit Fire, Oregon, USA, with and without postfire logging. Natural conifer regeneration was abundant after the high-severity fire. Postfire logging reduced median regeneration density by 71%, significantly increased downed woody fuels, and thus increased short-term fire risk. Additional reduction of fuel...
متن کاملContemporary management issues for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services face particular management issues as they adjust to the dominant Western paradigm of managerialism and the market model of health service provision. Their cultural orientation leads to distinctive organisational features which both advantage and disadvantages them in this environment. The holistic model of health used and community control enable ...
